Critical Minded Offers $500 Grants for Cultural Critics of Color
Critical Minded is a granting and learning initiative that builds resources and visibility for the work of cultural critics of color in the United States. Mindful of the unique hardships critics — and in particular critics of color and critics from underrepresented communities — face as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Critical Minded will provide need-based, unrestricted relief grants of $500 to cultural critics in the US and US territories experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. Deadline for applications is June 8.
The 6018North Workshop will contribute to the development of Chicago-area writers who engage critically with contemporary art, and in the longer term, to bring contemporary art to new audiences. Guest speakers Tempestt Hazel, Susan Snodgrass, Kate Sierzputowski, and Agnieszka Gratzaorkshop and workshop leader Lise McKean will collaborate with participants to expand the conversation about art criticism and offer one-on-one feedback on your writing.
