It’s been a long time since MTV has been on my radar for various reasons but Les Grossman from “Tropic Thunder” two years ago is reason enough for 3 or 4 posts. When Tom Cruise first played him back in 2008 it was to the delight of almost everyone I knew and myself. Now Les is back with more and is “producing” this years MTV Movie Awards.

The question now is can comedic lightning strike twice?

The Gothamist (which reportedly recently sold for 5-6 Million) has posted the latest gag by The Trustocorp Group, a anonymous group that places humorous mock products, signage & messages in as many public places as possible.  The latest is just in time for Kickball season at McCarren Park in Brooklyn where signs have been placed reminding park-goers to avoid feeding the Hipsters.

Trustocorp has also done works that promote: a brand of cereal called Banko$ “Eat the Rich”, Street Signs that say “yield to peace – until then war turns profits” & various other works of a similar nature.

When I was in school I wrote historical plays and will admit that most of them were horrible (except for one where I turned Romeo & Juliet into a rhyming western long before Baz Luhrmann) and every time I pushed the envelope even a little I got shot down. So deep down part of me is so proud of these fudging kids for pulling off a re-enactment of Scarface as a school play?!??

The other part is in abject shock of what is before me and thought it was unrealistic when it happened in a Kevin Smith film, I guess I take it back.

This has nothing to do with Art in even the most remote way but I would be amiss to not post this since it is some of the best comedy for a while and doesn’t appear on TV, Cable or Cinema. No, it’s specifically made and shown on Funny or Die. I could say much more but it would only ruin the best casted skit almost ever.

This is quite possibly the first time you have every SNL Presidential Doppelgänger on screen at the same time ever (just missing Rich Little) and showcases Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase, Jim Carrey, Fred Armisen, Darrell Hammond, Dan Aykroyd, Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey & Directed by Ron Howard to promote the Consumer Financial Protection Agency that is under debate/creation right now. Mike Benedetto is still on a religious retreat to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan or Stan “The Man” Musial…… one of the three I can’t remember which anymore. Regardless as a gift he (by not saying I couldn’t via email) has enabled me to release a 7 part 70 minute movie review of the worst film that everyone waited 26 hours in line for while it rained and slept on concrete with the curb as a pillow, yes “The Phantom Menace”.

Now you may ask yourself “Self, what can you say in 70 minutes that can’t be said in 10 (even with bonus seconds) do you just say the word “suck” over and over till it stops sounding like a real word?” to that I would say see a therapist since your talking to yourself and also reply you can say a lot. Trust me start watching and quit whenever you want but don’t make any plans for the next hour or so.
