Either way the current economy is going to be the catchword of the day and in the Art world that goes double since it is largely dominated both by the current economic trends and Apple products.

So here is hoping for the best in both areas but it is an interesting contrast happening. Which has more sway? Government run economic plans or Market run announcements?

To help visualize the current debate we present a rap video since it is ever fitting of a discussion about fools and their money. It’s John Maynard Keynes vs Friedrich von Hayek in a showdown over what works best (the fact that BaS is based in Chicago, home of Hayek & the Chicago School of Economics should not be considered an endorsement of either party lol ).

The grand prize winner of the CHIPUBLIB “Sound Off” Music Contest has been announced. The winner is Englewood’s own Christalle Bowen better known as Psalm One. A mp3 of the winning song “My Bucket Song” can be heard in it’s entirety above.

She will be performing the winning song along with a set of her other music, live at the CHIPUBLIB Sound Off concert at Pritzker Park, located at 344 S. State Street across from the Harold Washington Library Center, on Thursday October 22nd; doors open at 5 p.m. and admission is free.

Judge & Chicago-based Alarm Magazine publisher Chris Force called Psalm One’s entry a “shoulder-shaking salute to her hometown of Chicago,[that] stood out among the surprisingly creative and talented submissions to the Chicago Public Library’s “Sound Off” contest.”

Julian Myers is a San Francisco-based writer and art historian. His writings have been featured in publications such Frieze, October, Afterall, and a number of local and national museum and gallery catalogs. In addition, Myers teaches at the Curatorial Practice program at California College of Arts, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Terri, Joanna and Danielle Egan Miller talk to Arik Verezhensky proprietor of Gemini Fine Books & Arts, Ltd. A collector and dealer in rare and amazing art and books, and art books, and maybe a few books on art. To top it all off the show wraps up with some obscure Japanese Hip-Hop, Richard’s new favorite genre of music.
