I like her approach. It reminds me of a gallery I had in NYC a few years ago, Laura Martin-Transient NYC. She made quite a splash with shows in various empty spaces in NYC, London, even Italy, but had trouble making enough money without backing. http://209.85.129.132/search?q=cache:8OEKfDtAcAEJ:www.artsymag.com/Transient.html+LAura+MArtin+Transient&cd=3&hl=en&ct=clnk

The exhibition was a collaborative exercise that instilled a community sense that has been lacking. The artist, curators and even the landlords benefit from working together, still allowing each to show their individual efforts, while contributing to the greater whole.
The experience of sitting the gallery and talking to those that come in the space has produced interesting and inciteful views the artist rarely receives from a gallerist.
As an artist I will support in whatever way I can this endeavor. Manon and the No Longer Empty organization deserves a great deal of support. Hopefully it will come.

Not a completely original idea, but what makes this refreshing is Manon, lending her education & experience and courage to do something like this outside of the umbrella of "the establishment". She is versatile, bright, spontaneous and doing a great service to her artists.

When it comes to the issue of funding, I would encourage her to try and get private funding from individuals or foundations that don't put restrictions on the money. It may be more difficult to find, but it will keep the authenticity that is what makes this so special. Bravo!
